Australian Address Validation

Database is the backbone of every marketing organisation's operational success. Customer addresses are essential for a number of reasons ie used extensively to communicate with customers, perform useful analysis to support decision making and targeting and to support successful delivery of goods and services. It is therefore important that customer's address details are kept accurate at all times.
In Australia, Australia Post in its capacity as the Postal Delivery Authority, introduced Delivery Point Identifier, an 8 digit number that is unique to very valid address and used to generate mailing barcodes to speed up mail processing which in turn provides the mailer postage discounts.
In Australia, Address Validation is thus the process of matching the addresses including unit number, level number and street number, locality, state and postcode in a customer record against the Australia Postal Address File using an approved address matching software to append DPIDs to all valid addresses and to isolate all invalid addresses for cleansing. The Address Validation process can also find a true address from an alias or vanity address.
